On Wednesday, 30 April, the ECIA supported the ECITB in its Strategy Consultation 2026–2030 during the event Growing Skills in Teesside in the Era of Net Zero, held at Middlesbrough Riverside Stadium.
The UK’s net-zero transition is unlocking significant economic opportunities, paving the way for the development of the next generation of skilled professionals.
As part of the ECITB’s industry-wide consultation for their 2026-2030 Leading Industry Learning strategy, this interactive roundtable event brought together contractors, clients, funding partners, educational institutions and training providers with a shared goal: to identify and unlock meaningful actions that will grow skills within and beyond Teesside, delivered through collaboration.
A special thank you to the guest speakers from NZT Teesside’s Carbon Capture project, who provided a high-level overview of the initiative and the positive actions being taken through collaboration between the Client JV, Managing Contractor JV and Principal Contractor to address skills shortages.
ECIA member Altrad delivered an excellent presentation on its efforts to attract new entrants into the industry. The presentation featured an apprentice who shared his personal journey, which was well received.
The event saw strong attendance from ECIA member companies, with high levels of engagement and valuable input throughout the strategy discussions. This reinforces the principle that collaborative efforts lead to positive industry outcomes.
