On Friday, 26 September 2025, the ECIA Managing Director, John Simpson, welcomed a distinguished delegation from EBA Vestenfjelske, Norway, marking a significant moment of international engagement and strategic dialogue within the construction sector.
EBA Vestenfjelske serves as the industry and employers’ association for construction and civil engineering contractors across Hordaland and Sogn & Fjordane, regions now unified under Vestland county since 2020. Established on 2 December 1916 as Bergens Entreprenørforening, it holds the distinction of being the oldest branch within the EBA network. Today, the branch represents 60 member companies in Vestland, contributing to the broader EBA community of 644 member firms and 29,000 employees nationwide.
As the largest trade association within the Norwegian Confederation of Construction, EBA comprises nine regional associations and collectively generates an annual turnover of NOK 148 billion. Its membership spans from Norway’s leading construction enterprises to specialised contractors and skilled craft businesses.
During the visit, delegates engaged in productive discussions, exploring the shared challenges faced by both organisations and their members. Topics ranged from workforce development and regulatory pressures to innovation and sustainability. The dialogue also opened avenues for exchanging best practices and identifying collaborative strategies to foster growth across borders.
John Simpson adds: “ Following the recent feedback from our members, we understood that connecting with other organisations will help to learn from their best practices, creating further opportunities for our members as well as the whole UK engineering construction industry.”
