Over 600 Supervisors and Managers received the ECIA NAECI training

600 trained

In response to Member and Client concerns about awareness of the NAECI process and procedures, the ECIA developed and implemented two dedicated courses for Supervisors and Managers. These programmes were designed to increase knowledge, strengthen workforce management and reduce industrial disruption across sites.

The impact has been significant: 600 supervisors and managers from 15 member companies have now successfully completed the training, marking a major milestone in improving understanding of how the NAECI agreement operates. This achievement demonstrates the industry’s commitment to equipping leaders with the skills needed to support workers effectively under the NAECI contract.

Delivered as a two-part programme, the courses provide both new and experienced Supervisors and Managers with practical tools to manage teams confidently and fairly. The training reinforces the principle of delivering work “right the first time” and highlights the importance of soft skills in handling complex workplace situations, from managing banter to engaging constructively with unions.

For workers under the NAECI contract, this training is vital. By ensuring supervisors and managers fully understand the agreement, workers benefit from clearer communication, fairer application of procedures and stronger engagement on site. The result has been fewer disputes, improved collaboration and a more positive working environment.

Feedback from members has been overwhelmingly positive. One participant noted, “The consensus among both groups on site is that the training offered valuable insight into the agreement.” This reflects the value of the programme not only for management but also for the workforce who rely on supervisors to apply the NAECI framework consistently.

The success of the NAECI Manager Awareness Course and Supervisor Development Course has also attracted the support and funding of the ECITB. ECIA members registered with the ECITB can claim the full course cost back through the ECITB grant management system, subject to budget availability.

Looking ahead, demand continues to grow. Six further members have already requested awareness training for 2026, ensuring that the benefits of this programme will extend even further across the industry.
